Room 407
Room 407
I knocked lightly on the door
but no answer was heard
That's when I felt she didn't
want to be disturbed
The room was dark and
gloomy and curtains drawn
I thought that her family
had just gone home
Her eyes were sunken as
tears flowed down her face
I pulled the chair close to
her personal space
I took her frail hand and
held it against mine
She muttered the words
"Thank you for being so kind"
We talked for a good bit of the
first hour you see
But this evil disease called
CANCER was trying to take
her from me
I opened the curtains to let
the sunshine in one last day
I sat on the edge of the bed
and held her hand and prayed
No family was there as she
began slipping away
I told her to go to be with
GOD and it was more than ok
All was still in room 407 from
then on
Because she had finally been
called to her eternal home
