158

Tormented by the apathetic clock
How slow 336 hours struck by
The urge to see you crept through my veins
Like a disease that had no symptoms

The relief set in as classes dispersed
Unfolded sheets called out in the distance
For sleep seemed to abbreviate the days
And dreams prolonged your memory

A glance at the photograph of summertime romance
Brought fire to a still-beating heart
She left in a hurry to endure the unknown;
A word left to none

An hour and a half of shaky hands and staggering turns
Bleeding lips and battered nails
Feeling despondent, I yearned to turn back
Nothing but thought that you may not be home

My eyes peered over to the passenger seat
Memories resurfaced through my lack of restraint
As the GPS repeated take exit three for the second time,
I let out a sigh with faint sanity

The indifferent clock, now benign
Stopped as I told him to come to his porch
And there he was, just as he was the last time
And there I was, all along.

LesLie, Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@
