-pinwheel-
Daily Poetry #30, February 27, 2017
Word: Pinwheel
As the world goes round, continuing to spin as we humans walk,
And now that I realize it, I’m stepping along with the Earth too.
Nervously but eagerly, I march along through time, wondering
Where this dirty road will take me when I step on it.
Like a pinwheel, I will spin, pushing along on this winding path,
With the memories that I hold on to, I will see this through.
Though I’m weak, I’ll bend like flimsy wood, it won’t stop me,
So, for the future, I hope you’ll wish me luck.
Seeing that the world evolves, so I must move forward with it,
My weak bones of wood will slowly turn to metal.
I no longer cry, I’m not the weak child you knew before,
But I hope when I roll home, you’ll still recognize me.
Like a pinwheel, I will spin, pushing along on this winding path,
Like the spindles, my arms reach out to a bright future.
My skin may be blemished with scratches and bruises,
So when I come home, will you help me heal?
Like a pinwheel, I will spin, pushing along on this winding path,
But when I stop for a moment, I hope you’ll hold me up.
Looking up at the bright blue sky that is familiar to me,
I hope I have made you proud.
