Daily Poetry #37, March 6, 2017
Word: Paper

Just like my swirling mind, a blank sheet of paper,
Sits in front of me, the smooth waves intimidating me. 
There's not a single mark yet, as my imagination hasn't caught up,
Sighing, I set down my pencil and walk away, waiting for when I'll see.

One year and I still haven't made any sense,
12 months and I'm falling into this blank normalcy. 
365 days and I've resorted to filling in blank circles,
8,760 hours and I'm watching my empty life tick by. 

Picking up the paper once again, it's just as teasing as ever,
“Sirloin steaks and and a gas stove switch! Just as nonsensical as you!”
Am I truly that desperate for a companion that I'm imagining?
Letting out a groan, I go to sleep, for that's all I know how to do. 

525,600 minutes and I've still got nothing better to do,
31,536,000 seconds, would I just be procrastinating now?
31,536,000,000 milliseconds and I've already grown tired of this life,
I want to add something into it, but how?

Like a blank piece of paper, my head is completely empty and filled with nonsense,
“Swallow’s nests, let's all dance now, lalalalala!” 
Have I truly gone insane at these measures of time? 
What even is the world? I laugh out loud, “Hahahahaha!” 

One day, like that piece of paper, we'll all be brainwashed blank slates,
So why not test that theory now, all peppers taste the same! 
One day, I might write something on that blank sheet of paper, 
Just to save us all! Because one day, we won't even have a name!
