Daniel is a "different" child The doctors said he might just be a slow starter Daniel had something unfamiliar and different facial features He ate poorly and was fed through a tube There were many worries and hospital visits Six months passed before he received his diagnosis Daniel had Williams syndrome A rare, congenital condition characterized by a characteristic appearance, developmental defects in the cardiovascular system, reduced growth and developmental disabilities As parents we had many questions It was a roller coaster for a long time Today Daniel is eleven years, a joyful boy who loves to draw, dance and listen to music Our son is a loving and cheerful boy - let the "different" children shine They are good enough – more than good enough

Anne-Lise, it's a measure of our entire society....the way we care for and treat those with disabilities and differences. You're absolutely on target with what you point out here. There should be plenty of resources and help available in any just society. Glad this is working out and it reveals who you are for real. We can tell from all your poetry that you have a kind and loving heart. Something very special.

It is so sad that there are so many different kinds of these disabilities. I did not know how many there were until I started looking into it. It is very hard on parents who have a child like this who faces challenges in life that we as somewhat "normal" people face. Thanks for raising awareness to this disability. Sara K

Children with autism and physical help needs should not be ignored. Usually, they are very sharp compared to normal kids. Nice poem.

What a powerful/lovely write. We never know what God will give us. Each child is a blessing. I do not remember her name but she paints holding the brush in her mouth. Hugs... Hope you have a pretty spring day..........

Dear Anne-Lise, I cried tears of joy for you and I love your most beautiful poem. I love his name. :) My youngest daughter at age 18 months growth had stopped. My wife and I spent 2 years in and out of CHOP (Philadelphia Children's Hospital). They told us she would not survive beyond 5 years old and to take her home and live the best you could. She is now 27, married, and pregnant with her first. What happened? God! Spring Blessings, MY Dear Friend, Daniel
