I think what hurts the most...it took me years to trust you and believe your words and you broke all of that with the flip of a switch.

Don't understand how anyone dares to promise anything
Promises that are difficult to keep
.. gold and green forests -
.. happiness and wealth -
... eternal friendship and love
.. never promise more than you can keep

Some promises will be kept, others not
But, there are unwritten rules
I have experienced how it feels
Empty talk, which I believed on
... simply, stabbed in the back
It's all about sensibility
- remember that a promise is a commitment

Well written and So true, Anne-Lise! Some promises are meant when told but not kept and other promises are simply lies from the beginning. Neither is good, but the intentions can be very different. Blessings, Rhonda xx

It's best to just do something you want to do for someone than to promise and not be able to fulfill that promise. It hurts to expect something and then not have it happen. That has happened to me more often than not. Now I do for myself if there is something I want. I no longer rely on the promises of others. A fine write Anne-Lise. God Bless, JB

Sage advice, Anne-Lise. I know that pain of a broken, careless promise. It really rattles the foundation of trust. Hugs ~ John

Heartbreaking I agree with you, must have been and still probably is, a terrible blow dear Anne-Lise. A promise is an absolute commitment and as you say, an unwritten rule from both sides be it love or friendship. Stay safe, hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

You are wise, and definitely speak from experience, Anne-Lise! It is said that "Liars make the best promises", so best not to make promises which can't be carried through. Hugs // paul

Alas, one can only change one's attitude! To the majority, a promise is only words on the wind to be blown away and forgotten! Take care and best wishes for more cheerful thoughts! Aloha! Rico
