The word cancer is so crippling On trembling legs, we are tiny in this airy ceiling height Despite one had suspicion in advance A serious diagnosis - what now? The disease has been given a name // Grip a deep breath and continue nothing just falls from the sky - always look ahead - Me and I // The mental pain is tiring in the body No ones ever said your life would be easy I wish to read all the page of "The Book Of Life" // Grip a deep breath and continue nothing just falls from the sky - always look ahead - Me and I // Slow down and do your very best Shave off your self-pity Our biggest weakness is giving up Nothing can be done without hope The goal is to grab the next step toward living life to the fullest again // Grip a deep breath and continue nothing just falls from the sky - always look ahead - Me and I // -------------- 09/10/2020 Sun :) - A-L Andresen :) Copyright © All Rights Reserved Will to Survive Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Silent One 2nd place in the contest

Your pensive and inspiring refrain punctuates a poignant and potent poem, Anne-Lise. Powerful emotions spill from your vivid pen bringing us to the center of this dark moment where we can still find the light - and where the will to survive shines. Congratulations for your excellent win in Silent One's contest.. ~Susan

I love your repeating phrase, Sunshine. I can only imagine how one feels after receiving a cancer diagnosis. If they had a friend like you nearby to offer hope, it would be easier for them to cope. Beautifully written, my friend. Best wishes for a win in Silent One's contest! Hugs, carolyn

Well said Anne-Lise. This is so filled with encouragement and hope it's a real booster for anyone who is struggling with such a diagnosis. Having been cancer free for years now I know how it feels. Still when I have a sore throat I wonder nd say a prayer. Great job. Good luck in the contest. God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving. JB

We All expire one day, from many reasons. Cancer is one. Doing your best after a diagnosis and staying upbeat is the best. I have lost some close people to cancer. The first cancer patient I knew died before his 16th birthday. As a nurse, you know the host of modalities now available. I like to remember that " Doctors Treat but Only God Heals." Love, Pangie xx

I do not believe that illness arises as a form of punishment either at the individual level or collectively, Panagiota - Neither medically nor theologically do I find grounds to believe such a thing - There are no easy answers to complicated questions - Unfortunately, I have experienced younger patients as dying of cancer ... it feels unfair - Thank you very much for your great comment :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)
