Notes About The Poem

Clinton Road West Milford, NJ

- a Dark Ride -

***************

                                    Rumors and cruel vibes ...

Select a button - red, yellow or black,

                                              PRESS !!!

                                  - no one hears you scream

Alone on Clinton Road in West Milford

Halloween; when the trumpets announce midnight

Ghosts with red and yellow eyes

                                          Test your courage

                                 Jackpot ... paranormal activity

... you thought you had nerves of steel

(there is a real danger that you pee in your pants)

Whats the hell is going on here ?

                                          Take a pinch of salt

and throw it over your left shoulder

                                 The mystery remains unsolved

Imagine finding yourself alone, in one of the scariest roads in America at midnight on Halloween night - if rumors are true and perhaps one of the bad ghosts get you is a possibility, if they get a chance, for i would surely die of fright before they found me! Clever poem my friend, good luck in Carolyn'n contest. Hugs and blessings, Jenny.

Wow, Sunshine! I grew up in NJ and never heard about Clinton Road's paranormal activity. That's north Jersey, near my sister's home. (Laughed at the "pee in the pants" line!) There is another NJ spot called Green Light Cemetery where a man with a hook-hand protects the graves. Love your entry! Congratulations on a first-place win! Best wishes, Carolyn

If we had known about this when I was a teen, I'm sure we would have driven down Clinton Road!

Yes, I did look this up and found the Clinton Road hauntings online. I think "something" must be going on there or there wouldn't have been so many reports of strange happenings. Glad you introduced me t the story!

Interesting that you came across this road, Anne-Lise. My daughter and her family have lived in New Jersey for 17 years, and they have yet to mention it. I'll have to ask them about it. Thanks! :) gw

Spine chilling, Anne-Lise. Sounds like a creepy place to avoid on Halloween or any other dark and storm night! In New Jersey there is another legend about the "Jersey Devil" in the Pine Barrens.
