Adding Voice and Music to Poems

Posted by John Anderson on 7/19/2025 12:26:59 PM

Poetry is meant be heard and listened to. Originally poems were spoken and performed; they were not written down to be read in silence. OK not everyone has a good speaking voice or the discipline to read it well and record it. But there are some fabulous 'text to voice' tools available which can do the job for you. Many are free for a few goes a day. Similarly there are many 'text to song' tools that will put your verse to music with a lovely voice singing it clearly for you. You can write lyrics with choruses, etc. But you can also put short line poems to songs, which is a great way for your readers to listen to them. Most of these require a subscription. Here is a good one to start with several free goes per day is suno (dot) com. Let's get more voice and music on the soup!

Perhaps a blog John, with a' text-to-text ' step by step guide might be a good idea

Reciting brings me anxiety as I tend to be a perfectionist but I totally agree. I've on purpose looked for other writers who recite but hardly find any. Also I absolutely love the biography section but no one utilizes it.
