Poem
I know your confidence is low, you don't see much in yourself You've had to face your demons alone, your family didn't do enough to help They had other priorities such as drinking Keeping your thoughts to yourself so they can't crush your thinking I know the memories haunt you from when they would leave you Because you knew they weren't coming back at night to feed you You were just a little baby, crying in your cot Parents didn't feed you properly, and you'd get shouted at if you made a noise when your dad was lying in his spot Social services came and took you away to place you with a foster family I know this must have done damage to your sanity You struggled to settle in most of the homes you were placed in But don't hold it against yourself, that was a lot to face then You were moved from pillar to post, so it was difficult to be stable Ignored and bullied, you were ignored at school tables You reacted by lashing out Not the best way, but you had too much fight in you to be backing down You started listening to Eminem at 8, his music stopped you from feeling alone 27 foster families by age 11, then you were moved to a children's home I know this was when you were happiest even if you won't admit it obsessed with football, Hip-Hop, especially lyrics You began to start relationships with the opposite sex But you still couldn't be positive yet You missed your family more than you would admit Them not showing you love, stopped you from being connected to the person you were in love with You used sex as a medicine not realising love would have helped more But you were still being bullied and never felt secure You never knew how to feel when your dad died I understand why half of you was numb, and the other half was sad inside I wish you didn't go through it, as I Invision the first day you picked the blade up you began to self-harm right after you ripped your Maths page up As you made yourself bleed, your eyes stayed shut This became your way to cope, I just wish I could have helped you pick another way to survive You would smile through the day, but your demons came to play at night Now you're a little older and free from the blade, but I know you're still hurt I know you're still battling suicidal thoughts, I just hope they get killed first When I look at you, I realize your eyes show the pain you try to hide You smile for the world, but you cry inside Tattoos cover the scars you gained while young With everything you've been through, I wonder where you get your smile from I love how you managed to find yourself despite getting lost in your scars You gave love a chance so many times,it's a shame it cost you your heart I love how you're so open about your Scars and flaws Your honesty should be respected as it's hard to ignore You've came a long way and still have further to go I know you'll find your way while you're searching the roads Love has destroyed you, But you're still trying They tried to cut your wings, but you're flying You've battled depression for years, it's been the coldest war Your strength is unmatched and your Soul is pure Your days are getting brighter, your happy ending is getting nearer I've finally found love in you, The man in the mirror
