these evil dogs jump lightly
padding quiet past our laws,
harrow fangs of hobbled wolves
orbit slowly up to broken jaws,

eons of tears rush like waterfalls 
sheets misting blood and time,
passing lives like wandered smoke
anguished cries, mournful rhyme,

secrets spill in bitter hearts
mere ideas now blurring motion,
smiles bent by hatred's sneer
once a trickle, now an ocean,

block letters stamped on parchment 
missives mailed via gun,
souls erased by ordered men
furnace belch and blocking sun,

raise the banner, curse the tribe
crime conceals averted eyes,
it's the other, not our side
streets still echo anguished cries,

still, upright victorious men
shining brass and scraping boot,
barking verdict, tied to post
seven shots make vengeance moot,

circle back, wisdom no more
to learn so little from the past,
a week, a day, these blood soaked years
mobs rush quick to murder castes,

mourn the living, blame the dawn
angels whisper in deaf ears,
asking man with crimson arms
to earn the gift of future's years.
