Poem
The night descends upon the kingdom of Gaa As the king prepares, in his chambers, for his night Upon summoning the queen for all of his desires He is confident of success for tomorrow’s fight. Meanwhile, in Sura, a king, too, has a thought Preparation of the battle is what he must do Sleeping? Loving? No! That’s not for him. For the King of Sura is but a shrew. As the sun is descending and the moon now appears King Wexle of Sura prepares all his men To surprise King Rabba, in neighboring Gaa To kill, rape and plunder again and again. Now, back in the chambers, Rabba and the queen Two lovers together, harmonious indeed No thought of tomorrow, no not at this moment For, as in love, together, they always succeed. But, alas, there’s a sound! Thunderous! Explosive! With screams of some men, they jump from the bed. Surprised by the attack of the men from Sura, They must now fight or suffer their death. The queen had a plan to gather all her men Through tunnels, in darkness, they followed her lead Rabba, with his men, held back the attack While the queen with her men escaped through some trees Now, Wexle, felt glory, thinking now was his time Rabba, he thought, was to already have perished. The queen and the land, all now will be his For property and goods are all that he cherished. As Rabba advanced with knights by his side The queen had her knights surrounding the rear Wexle, at a loss, had gathered his army The look on his face was of shame and of fear. In shameful loss, Wexle, at that moment Reached for his sword, knife and a shield Proceeded to run and attack the queen But she was a fighter and would not yield. With a display of fighting, forever unrivaled The queen took her sword and swung to the left Wexle was surprised and on his feet, stumbled As she plunged her sword right in to his chest Rabba had come in with thoughts of a victory Unknowing his queen had secured that for sure Looking to see the face of the enemy He then looked at her, a face that was pure He knelt before her and requested the honor Of hugging her there, in front of her men With a nod of her head and the dub on the shoulder He jumped to his feet and hugged her just then Into her ear he whispered the following, “my love, for you, my kingdom I give. Without you darling, there’d be no tomorrow. Without you darling, I shall not live.”
