I don't know the why of such a dream, nor why it is a combination of both fact and fiction.  The family in the dream is a fact of history, but the family size is fiction. I don't know what it must have meant. I don't purport to be an interpreter of dreams, not even my own.  However, since it will not escape my mind, I must at least take a shot at the possibilities of its meaning. 

I dreamed about an American Senator who once ran for President. He never got far because he was quickly asascinated in mid 1968. Furthermore, the dream was not about his politics, but portrayed his family. In the dream he had a wife, eight girls and one boy. However,  there was nothing in the dream reflecting upon the Senator's life or his family. Things were said by certain ones, but I do not remember what was said.  There was just this family scene with neither plan nor plot. Again, I don't  know what to make of it, but I'm good for a thoughtful shot.                                                                       

This poet's take of the dream is that we all have a history. Like all of history, regardless of who may want to differ, it cannot be changed, revised, or even revisited in time. Accurately recorded history is yesterday's reality waving at tomorrow's possibilities.  It's both any and everybody's story. His Story; Her Story; My Story; Your Story; Our Story; Their Story. Like my dream, history has nothing more to say, to do, or to prove. All of history speaks as one, saying, "We were here. It's now your turn". Not so complicated.

I believe that sometimes,  deep in the portals of night, heaven speaks to us                                                             in pictures too sacred for words often lost in the chatter of everyday life.                                             Appropriate or not, I really do not know.  This poet feels compelled to speak for history, although I think not that such a feat is even possible. Any way, if I could, what I would say on behalf of history is this: Learn from history  and live a  larger more fuller dream.  Or not, and live a nightmare.  It's our choice.
