CONVERSATION IN HEAVEN He looked down here from heaven and saw the grief and pain That mankind was enduring because of sin’s black stain. He saw all of the sorrowing that follows after death In torments there forever past this life’s final breath. He knew it wasn’t His fault, for man had made his choice, Instead of letting God rule, he heeded Satan’s voice. He looked then at His Father, who had the sentence made, And who had there provided how it must now be paid. Like Him, His heart was broken that man had spurned their love, And so with His eyes gazing at His holy face above, He said, “Let Me go Father. Let Me endure their pain, Let Me their sin debt pay for, and then I’ll rise again.” “You know what it will mean, Son; You must take on their guilt, You’ll by Me be forsaken, and Your blood must be spilt. They’ll torture You in anger, for they’ll reject Your love Just like My simple message I gave them from above.” Then He said to His Father there sitting on His throne, “I know what it will mean, Lord, I know I’ll die alone. I know they will reject Me, yet some will still believe; They’ll come to Me repenting and will My grace receive. We can’t just let them suffer, because they are our sons, We must make them an offer, and I’m the only one. I’ll go and I will suffer; I’ll go and do Your will; It will delight Me, Father, My blood for them to spill.” And so into a manger that quiet, holy night Came this Child down from heaven to save man from sin’s plight. It happened since He loved us, now let us love Him, too, By trusting and believing what He came down to do.
