Poem

I shopped and shopped 
With eager intent 
Each pair were examined 
With care heavily spent,
And with bag in hand
My shoes traveled home,
But on the first day
My feet they did bemoan 
A pain not seen 
At the time of acquisition,
My shoes deceived my trust 
In their key mission.
I soon spotted a woman 
Stride gracefully in heels, 
And assumed from her smile 
How good she feels, 
But in my dismay 
I found that her shoes 
Were not without pain, 
So heels I did not choose. 
I trekked on a long beach, 
And flip flops were "the" gear, 
So I bought three pairs
Because comfort seemed clear, 
But that strap between my toes
Did so irritate, 
That all three pairs 
In the trash met their fate.
I tried cleats and boots and sandals, 
All shoes with great reputation,
But I found no relief 
From the pain in each destination.
I tried walking in many shoes,
But I learned with each stride
That from their pain
I could not hide.
We each walk a path
That knows many sorrows,
And evey bearers' burden 
Has many tomorrows.
So each pair of shoes 
Are no better than the rest
And it's walking hand in hand 
That makes our feet feel their best.
