Poem
Delicately WEAK she knew not of happy days, dramatically tweaked she had broken ways- Inside her coma she lost all her sane light, hiding, her innocence paid the cost that night. Crying for help when no one was there, dying to save herself from BRITTLE despair. She was FRAIL and needed a place to rest, for she had failed life’s greatest test- She needed not anymore moments of regret, she knew so much more than she could forget. When the strength came it left quickly, I’d go to any length for her blind eyes to see. Thin was her soul when she was found, no longer whole, DECREPIT and unsound- Flimsy and feeble her hands were full throttle, tipsy and unstable her mind was from the bottle. I needed a moment to catch my breath, knowing her FRIABLE life would find death. Contingent upon joy she found sorrow, astringent she toyed; she’d be gone tomorrow- I saw the look in her fragile eyes when she left, for it was the last time I saw her bereft. She was fractured and SHATTERED with blame, she was vulnerable and battered with shame. I said, “my love come here I SHALL SAVE YOU”, for sisters show no fear when they're blue- We stayed up all night and laughed and talked, went outside and took her dog for a walk. Then the next day was New Year’s Eve, guess it was the way she decided to leave. Now I lay pink lilies at her SUICIDAL grave, I stop and think of the ways I could’ve saved her from the eased heartache she endured, it was a disease that had no known cure. Short in life, she thought there was no other way, DEBILITATED in strife, dying that New Year’s Day. Fragile Contest John Hamilton October 14, 2017
