Poem

It feels like eons
      since you threw me to the wolves.
Still I bared my teeth
   and for every drop
      of life's blood that fell
I took another step,
   clamping my jaws
      on every throat with in reach,
         thrashing for all that I was worth
then climbing over the body
  until none stood before me.

    With the scars crossing my eyes
I stood proud
   and used my blood encrusted mouth
to pull
        the victims of society
from beneath the corpses
   into the sunlight.
But those scars
      prevented me 
from seeing them crawl back in
  to feed on the visceral spillage
civilizations left behind.

I turned my head
  to the moon
     howling,
        howling,
           spitting my soul
upon that floating rock
    inscribing every ounce
of love I had to show
      this Earth the value
of the lives that exist here
    only to hear them crawl
into the caves
  that house the sewage
running freely beneath everything.

Now I don't have
     a single note left to offer
and I feel my strength
        running down my leg
with every step I take.
     Eventually
all my senses
   become clogged
      with the pollution
people bathe in joyfully.
  I look down
and see my own entrails
     dumped out before me
and sit down to eat
  choking on my own bile
      as I watch it spill back onto the ground,
ever lapping at my gore.
