Poem
Call it intuition… She’s got what we need before we get to wishing… Simmering, stewing, mixing, molding and making; Adding sage and wisdom, sugar and spice, Stirring, pureeing, refining; baking. Her recipes are full of love and devotion, Her soul goes into every concoction and every potion. Sweet and sour, joy mixed with pain She’s a welcome ray of sunshine after a down-pouring rain. Under her watchful gaze, many pots boil and bubble, Every plate she serves can cure any trouble. Gentle prodding, with a sardonic wit, is her specialty, With simple words, she can reach the most lost soul and set their demons free. Chicken-soup, or spaghetti for the soul, her table is welcoming to all who enter her door. She can mend a hurt ; heal a wounded heart that is sore. Classically regal, beauty untold, Warm-hearted, tender, from the strongest to the weakest, her arms enfold. Blessed, not quite-sainted, her heart is pure; her love is untainted. She has many names; From Daughter to Wife; Mother to Grandma to Nonna, Sister to Aunt to Great Aunt and Friend to all Hater of none, she answers every call. She can make something from nothing, there’s magic in her cupboards. She can right the wayward and effortlessly redirects the stubborn. She turns away none, no matter how loud their wails; She finds a bit of humor in the most sordid of tales. Heaven-sent angel to all that she sees She is whatever we need her to be. Call it intuition… She’s got what we need before we ever get to wishing… There’s love, hope and laugher, found in her Kitchen. She warms up the soup as she nourishes our souls, She fills up our hearts as she fills up our bowls.
