there was blue and green flying on the screen
in my grandparents' basement
i was there for a week, i was sleepwalking
but i always woke up in my grandmother's arms

race cars and Gameboys and made-up scenarios
i was so independent but i grew up to be afraid of the world
tomorrow is today
it's a speedway, it's a speedway

that room was the epitome of the absence of dysphoria
of childhood toys and all things glorious
'cause all the people now, they're all racing toward the horizon
and i'm eating their dust, i'm beginning to hear sirens

race cars and Gameboys and made-up scenarios
i was so independent but i grew up to be afraid of the world
tomorrow is today

but i guess it gives me comfort to remember that everyday
i turned down many streets but i never went astray
but where i am going now?
where am i headed now?
