Poem
I just want to write a dedication to the man who saved my life I was ready to give up, but your words inspired me to fight Can I say thank you without being corny? Thank you Eminem, you're the biggest influence in my story Heard you for the first time when I was 8 years old Before I knew Hip-Hop, when I was too young to compare flows I probably liked all of the swearing at that time But you were saying all the things I was saying in my mind I fell in love with the way you put words together The pain, anger, humour and passion, you made me feel every emotion As soon as I heard your music, I felt a little better You made me see, you can still work despite being broken My parents were too busy getting drunk to care for me Took into foster care, and your music became my therapy I was bullied and alone, but you were there for me Posters of you all over my wall would stare at me My biological sperm donor wasn't around to teach me how to be a man Your words did that job for him, I was basically Stan When I put your music on, it's like I no longer felt the pain You encouraged me to grow, and helped me to change Posters of you on my wall to cure my loneliness For some reason I felt safer knowing they were there Social workers told me I shouldn't listen to you, because you're inappropriate "He swears too much, he hates women and is disgusting" maybe they didn't see the message you share I could relate to most of what you said But how can a man make you laugh and cry with the same line? My family were alcoholics and druggies, I got addicted to your music instead Used to wonder how you came up with some of your rhymes You're a genius at worst, at your best not many can compete You've stayed by my side, no matter how many people I've seen leave You eased the weight of the world on my shoulders I broke down and cried at 12 when I first heard Like toy soldiers I've wrote a tribute to you before, but I could never thank you enough Your words are the reason I'm still here This isn't my best poem, I've wrote better in my poetry book Even though you won't read this, Thank you Eminem, you helped me overcome my fears
