Poem
My days were short but God has lengthen them; My body sometimes hurts, but that's because of sin-nature; God is such a beautiful King; Back in my day (I'm not that old); As a child you always had to do what you were told; The village co-raise all the kids; You suffered to get a spanking from all of them; From the teacher at school, the principle, the next door neighbor; Also included your grandma and that was if she was stay with yah! Now I'm not gonna lie or will I pretend; That I to this day understand; But I believed I left someone out;, You see dad was at work trying to make a buck; So if my math is right and it better be; You might have gotten a whooping from five people before daddy got home; In a time when just hanging around, standing around, playing in your neighborhood; Even if you were just in front of your house; You had to be inside the house before the street-lights come out; Now you of this dispensation of time, probably wondering what I'm talking bout; Even in the bad times if was good times with Mama em' Even in the darkest hours Mama pray to God for cover, Mama em' Cooked food on Saturdays for Sunday dinner; Mama em' hand washed and iron clothes and hung em in the closet; Mama em' them co-educated the children; Mama em' slapped your face/mouth if you spoke to openly; Mama em' prayed you and made you behave; I thank God always for Mama em' Mama em' stayed at home; Sometimes it was grandma, grandpa, and maybe an one of the aunties; Mama em' would pick out my school clothes, take her apron and wipe my bloody nose, and Mama em' would be the first and last in church; Mama em' would have Sunday deserts; mama em' would pray ever so loudly; Praising and blessings raining down on me; Mama was young when she got married Had three son's apart each nine months; Mama wedded at eight-teen; But back then they had more sense than someone 47; Now she died at the age of thirty-nine; Families gather on both sides; Kind of young to leave this life; But now she living in the presents internally with God and Jesus Christ; Now you maybe wondering what happen to the em's Well, just like Mama all of them.. Each and every one have gone on in, they have passing Passed on also unto the Lord and God; So if there were a moral or substances to this story/poem; It's just every new not always for God's glory; Even tho' in the beginning things still were bad; If I had a time machine I would rather still live before 1965; So when this world is gone again? This time by fire and not rain? Maybe? I'll see them all again. . . I'm talkin bout MaMa em' written by James Edward Lee Sr. August 3 2017
