One pair of shoes walk down the street,
walking fast towards the girl next door.

Next door, just one pair of shoes sit in her house, 
they barely get worn, unlike her socks.

Her pair of socks are pacing upstairs,
waiting for his shoes to arrive.

One pair of shoes walks into her house.
He puts his shoes next to hers.

Her socks have stopped pacing and run downstairs,
hearing his pair of shoes arrive.

Her pair of socks is on tiptoe 
while he hugs her lovingly.

She slips on her shoes, tied with one little knot,
and he slips on his shoes, and takes her hand.

Two pairs of shoes walk out of the house,
with his shoes leading her on a date.

Two pairs of shoes arrive back in the house,
this time filled with laughing and joy.

Now four pairs of shoes sit in a line,
with two pairs fit for a wedding.

She puts on her heels,
careful not to wreck her white dress.

He slips on his dress shoes,
careful not to look at his bride.

Now five pairs of shoes sit in the house,
one pair fit for a baby.

Two pairs of shoes walk into the house,
with a little pair of socks on the baby in her arms.

Now six pairs of shoes sit in the hall,
For her family that has grown in this house.
