On this side of the world
Fire is another way to name life
And there are three ways to keep burning:


I. Build a cave on your tongue;

You do not say your body is perfect
Before a cracked mirror of past betrayal;
You do not speak loose into a dark night
When you don't see what you're looking at.
So teach your tongue the art of silence
And fold your lungs into caves of secrets
For when your truth falls on a bitter ear
You may be talked into pale memories.


II. Step into the shoe of multitude;

You cannot keep your head above water
When the world decides to lay with the storm;
You cannot make music with your mother's tongue
When the tracklists are rhythms of foreign sounds.
So beat your sight and mind into futility
And blindly follow the cues of the crowd.
For when you turn your back on them
Say your prayers, for your death trails you.


III. Sell your soul to devil;

How do you backslide and lead those paths
That secure you a paradise in dark places?
Eat into the flesh and bone of the world
Then drink from the blood, a grime communion.
Old things have passed, you are a new being;
Rich, famous, and ruler of heroic kingdoms.
Do not forget to murder the promises of eternity.

On this side of the world
If you wish to live and be loved
Take these three ways, and keep burning.
Do not be scared of hell
Nothing can be worse than a life in Africa
Where survival is another grave sin.
