Poem
The mountain stream chisels a valley As narrow as the neck of a swan In the rocks as strong as steel. The water dancing down in musical cascades And crashing on the rocky ledges Splashes silvery drops reaching the sky. They all carry the words The stream says to the rock and to the sky. The water rushing down in a current And rolling on pebbles strewn on the bed Sings an endless song for the birds. They all carry the words The stream says to the pebbles and to the birds. A magnolia tree stands high in the valley As green as the water of the deep sea On the slopes as fragile as hopes could be The leaves dancing in wild wind in a rhythm And falling softly on the ground Whisper autumn tunes to the grass. They all carry the words The tree says to the wind and to the grass. The flowers opening the petals to sunshine Like the eyelids after deep sleep And throwing pollens the air sips, Offer nectar to the bee. They all carry the words The tree says to the air and to the bee. The narrow valley is full of words In search of a poet to write a poem On the mountain stream that cascades Around the magnolia tree that sheds leaves For you to gather and to read their rhyme. The moonlight floods the alley In a romantic mist as mystic as a secret of heart. The young couple drowned in the flood of light Sits in silhouette on a bench by the lamp-post And look in the eyes creating dreams The touch of love makes the silence play violin. They all carry the unspoken words The couple says to the dreams and the moon to silence. The street lamp lights the alley on moonless night As soft as the touch of the sea breeze. A mother walks carrying her child on her lap Like an angel through the cloud The child makes sound the mother understands The kiss mother gives touches the heart child feels. They all carry the words The child says in sound and the mother says in a kiss. The alley is full of words In search of a poet to write a poem On the young couple sitting on the bench And the mother walking with the child on her lap, For you to capture and read the lyric.
