Poem

In the sunny valley of the Clanio
lies my childhood town of Baiano
towered by Mount Paternio with it's pretty
dandilions and sunflowers growing on its slopes;
there from tree to tree the thrush chirps happily
as the low hills open up to the splendid skies!

The distant town of my humble birth seems
to call me to reverse time, I put on wings
and fly to gaze at the remote Terrean Sea:
what a stunnung vision this child can see!

It's seven o' clock and the church bells
start to ring, throngs of elderly women
with veils on their heads head to church,
at such hour, the silent town awakens:
mothers wake up children with sleepy eyes,
but awkward sounds their dreams encroach!   

The distant town of my humble birth
looks stately with it's three towerbells,
they were made by the laborous hands 
of ingenious people that sought wealth! 

It's past twelve o' clock and calmness reigns,
I smell the lemon trees in the balmy breeze;
fragrant roses, and gardenias gleam with sun rays:
there my mom waters them distracted by geese!

The distant town of my humble birth
gleams with lights as darkness arrives,
then flickering silver stars make their appearance:
eyes filled with awe look up from the oval earth!
