Poem
Looking into the crystal mirror The girl sees a hollow form in front of her She is beautiful, with nothing out of place But is filled with nothing Eyes of glass blink in union They are lifeless Filled with no emotion Looking at each other they gasp in shock Suddenly their eyes crack Splinters of glass hit the ground Emotion finally bursts through I don’t want to be like this What am I doing wrong? Who am I? Who do I want to be!? The two parallel figures close their eyes Tears pour from their eyes Mirroring each other’s pain With a cry the water starts to rise Filling the room with unbearable sadness Water Claws at their feet pulling them under Slowly drowning them in their own fears And regrets With an airless scream the water finally lets them go Exploding into mist The two figures tumble down Hitting the floor with a thump Left drenched on the floor Death slivers in Vines covered in gleaming thorns Twist and turn eager for their prize Roars of hatred fill the wet air Wrapping itself around their legs They scream in horror Kicking and scratching They run to each other Bloody hands on each side of the mirror They know what to do Believing in yourself is not easy Sometimes tackling the situation can be impossible But no matter how hard keep fighting Don’t be hollow, be you Picking up the silver end of their hair brush They smash it into the deceiving mirror Shards of lies and despair cascade all around Like bullets they shoot through the air Fragments of truth are sliced into their skin They flow with the river of blood dripping onto the floor Leaning down the girl grabs a broken shard Gazing into it the mirroring figure smiles A chipped china doll is steering back Not perfect but still wonderful This is her She shall never change again Stepping over the glass covered ground She makes her way to the disintegrating door The vines slighter away in fear Creating a path before her As she walks the wall paper ignites in flames The bouquet room shrivels and oozes And the floor starts to cave in With a smile on her face she steps out of the room Slamming the door Leaving the domain of lies behind Destroyed forever Sitting on the hill She watches the smoke and flames devour the lies The house protests Falling down in a rumble By her foot a flower bud appears It blooms and sparkles like magic Picking the flower she holds it close to her heart The time of new beginnings has begun
