Poem
When Dragon was a few months old, his future was already there to see. He’d tried to fly, with his penguins’ encouragement. Yes! Oh My! Oh Me! We kept hearing all day long: That Dragon’s down! That Dragon’s Down! The penguins were all running around, and were loudly making that sound. Duh! Dragon was down! And every time he was down, came their refrain! Why was Dragon in such a plight? I would be most happy to now, explain. You see… The penguins were trying to help him, his First Flight to obtain! He was in a pickle, from the left and the right, and it was making me insane! But Grandpa Troll said not to interfere! He needs to learn on his very own. Now let me say, I think his mind was ruined that day, every cell was blown! As he landed on his head, from every angle, that to man, is possibly known. First the penguins flapped their wings, to demonstrate how to fly, as shown. It would have been more encouraging if: they could fly, even an itty bitty, bit. But he had no lift, so they massaged his muscles and wings, to make them fit. Then it was: for breakfast not enough caffeine or protein, as if that’d do, a wit. A cow wasn’t enough! Hah! How about dumping a load, for a better benefit? First they tried to get a bit more speed by wheeling him in a cart down the trail. Then they thought it might help, to throw him off the roof, then a cliff, to sail! But as he landed his head, he laughed every time, he got back up, not derailed. Then it was a giant slingshot, to launch him. Penguins are quite creative. Do tell! But by now it was plain, that Dragon wasn’t exactly making his own mistakes. And I add, this the first time Dragon hit the broad side of a barn, with no brakes. Grandpa Troll quickly noted: It’s not every day you see that! Little did he know! By now, the penguins were scoring him, by holding up Olympic signs, in a row. I gave Dear Sweet Dragon a ten, just before he got up and laughed, once again! By the way, that’s the day our carpenter Trolls found their calling, amid big grins! But I drew the line, as they strapped him to a rocket, to sail into space, so insane! I took the lighter away, but Dragon didn’t listen, and lit the fuse himself. Amen! Grandpa Troll just laughed and laughed, saying: Will you look at that baby haul! I think the one to be learning by Dragons mistakes… wouldn’t be him, after all. Yep! I’d caught on fire! But the penguins helped me to duck, and roll, and roll. And surprisingly, the world has been doing the same every since. LOL…I extol. Later Grandpa Troll said the lesson had not been for Dragon. It had been for me. After all, Dragon is not a baby. He’s tough. So enjoy his antics! Apparently! Written 6-4-2017 by Carol and Hubby Eastman
