Poem
If death had a fee I would gladly pay To see my beloved father everyday How can I forget this good man Who left us on the 10th of May Despite that I prayed to the Lord each and everyday He was my inspirator, motivator And at times he was an educator I will forever love you and I hope we will meet again When my life is spent and I am free Of this earthly pain Ascending to the right hand of God with his angels all around Fulfilling his divine purpose in this place that is upside down Where infants and children die in our cosmopolitan town And justice is ridiculed like a clown You are a general in the making Eventhough bad rules made you an army major You are a saint to me and an angel by nature You died at the tender age of seventy two You still had a lot to accomplish And so much to do But I wish you could stay a little bit longer And that the Good Lord will make you stronger And heal you of that affliction Which resembled stroke? And which made you lose consciousness and this crisis isn’t a joke And till we meet again father I will remember you in prayer Your body may be dead But not even death can be your spirit slayer And until we meet again father Peace be upon your soul Away from this world where most humans die without achieving a goal I blame myself each day Because your death should been averted Through prayer or fasting And back to where we started Father what sin have I committed to suffer this fate What transgression could have brought about so much hate? How can I lock the Pandora ’s Box? How can I avert this great evil that is bound to come? How can I stop time and prevent the rising of the sun? Can I move your hands through prayer and fasting? Will the Creator do the will of the creature without him asking? Or am I destined to fate without tasking? Father you took my earthly father away For reasons unknown to me So I cry every day And If that purpose is by way of my sin Then I pray that you forgive me of my trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us For you take and replace among the human race Your power transcends both time and place Father show mercy on my father Do not be annoyed with my arrogant ways And my bickering and complaining My countless excuses without naming Each day I soliloquize and keep on blaming Myself and myself and myself He was born a year before the Second World War ended And he was a good officer Who could shoot with both arms suspended Now he is gone And my knees are bended Seeking for answers to my questions Which I may never get About a day of so much sorrow Which I will never forget I know that we cannot live forever But it is my desire that we stay together No matter the season No matter the whether And if you could live ten years more I will keep knocking at my Father’s door For more time One day I know I will suffer a similar fate But remember your covenant with me You promised to make me great And when funds run dry and dreams don’t fly I call upon my Father I never put my hopes in a man or a prince Please don’t even bother. And when all heavens open up To accept another soul Remember that our purpose on this earth is to achieve your divine goal So be not angry with us Father Because you cannot forsake the work of your hands And to destroy the very creatures which you created Is not part of your plans So remember all you living One day you are going to die Eyes wide open looking to the sky When your souls jump out and began to fly All the way to Heaven like a little butterfly And your deeds on this earth Will be question by the Creator Who knows all languages So there no reason to get a translator Who has all knowledge And beyond those of Harvard educators And in his left hand is a sword Sharper than the teeth of alligators
