Poem
The local Zookeeper decided that he wanted Dragons’ cute penguins back. So he offered to help make this Easter, for them, way more special, that’s right! He made them anchovy filled, jello colored eggs for them, to collect, such a delight! But, he’d injected bourbon into each of those unique jello eggs. By Gosh! Why? To get them put back in the Zoo… Where he thought they did belong. You’d have thought he’d have known better... Now… Don’t you know! Uh Huh! And they were given their own area to fill their own baskets, definitely, too. For Last year, they’d collected, and tried to hatch the kids Easter Eggs. It’s true! All I could say was: Thank goodness they didn’t see the kids eat them. Truly! Amen! The penguins collected and swallowed those jello anchovy shots lickety split. But he didn’t know: to help a charity, they would be sitting with kids, in the pews! And yep, most became drunk, just in time to snore and slide out of the pews. Yep, exactly, as the Preachers Easter Sermon went into full effect… It was true. Dragon got worried and ran over to collect the penguins laying there so cute. But he was too big and he got stuck… Now… What could he possibly do? Others had uncontrolled hiccups as the kids followed the penguins into the isles. As the singing started, others began playing, newly gifted Easter kazoos, quite wild. The kids came out to dance behind them, up and down the isles. Now that’s new! At this, The preacher prayed ‘Oh Lord Help Us’ as he looked to the sky! And I do believe that: he had named his sermon ‘The Great Easter Surprise.’ Dragon finally broke loose toppling the pews…to chase after the Penguins. Yahoo! Where they chose to immediately dive into the Baptismal pool. To get Baptised, too! They kept slipping thru Dragons hands, until he finally, fell in, with them kinda askew. Water splashed all over, as old Mrs. Moore’s Hugh Easter bonnet, became unglued. Dragon surfaced just as the Preacher yelled, ‘Halleluiah, Christ has arisen this day!’ Yep, this became known as the Sunday Easter Service, which definitely went astray! After the service the church people gathered the little penguins up… one by one. And wouldn’t you know, the penguins became really big, YouTube stars… born. Seven million viewers scored them, with those adorable little hearts, so profound. The collection plate was filled to over flowing by donations from the internet. Wow! You might say, they became the preachers best friends, for an addition to his church. Then the Zoo Keeper apologized, to plead for charity, to improve the zoo, of course. And he got seven million You Tube views as… The penguins, one by one… Forgave him and helped plead his case to the Sheriff of Crazyland, not to go to jail! Tho, of course, Dragons’s penguins got to stay with us! There could be no other end! What else could you possibly think? They say: Our Easter Service became the one … Seen around the World, that day! Thanks to the young church-goers with phones… With which to play. Hope you had a Wonderful Easter, as ours may have even… Made Jesus cry tears of laughter, on that most auspicious… Easter Day. Amen Written April 24th, 2017
