Poem
It started off as puppy love the day I first saw him. My heart... stopped beating. My soul held the intuition of a young lady’s dream. I always craved love in my youth. Sought desires beyond my comprehension and the first time I saw his eyes, I gaped in determination. My young love started at just sixteen and I felt I had a future I had always wanted to hold onto. I believed in... ...love at first sight. I longed for a moment of clarity in someone’s arms. I deserved a love that only a princess could encounter. Seeing him through my eyes was a sight no other could ever grasp. No one could ever understand the magnitude and depth of my soul’s desire coming true. At last I had found someone… but maybe too young to notice the possibility of us going our separate was as we grew older… but my puppy grew into my true love. True love is a one and a million chance. It is the moment of the realization you belong with that special someone you thirsted for. We were so young when we got married. Just babies searching for ways to express to each other the significance of our love. I remember the exact moment our puppy love blossomed into true love. It was that day I’ll never forget…. Being apart for six months caused heart ache. I thought I needed space, room to grow into an independent woman, on my own. For I was too young to start a family. A proposal from him, and I graciously gave back the ring. It didn’t take long for me to realize the mistake I had made. One hot June day I got down on one knee and asked him to kindly marry me. That is the true definition of love. The vow to finish what we had started in our youth. The volume of intense adoration and promise to stick by each other through all the trials life offers. The understanding of miracles coming true when the depth of love is so strong. I needed him at sixteen, and twenty-one years later, he is still my true love. My sweet boy, turned into a man and I too turned into a woman. Together we created a love to cherish forever, with a daughter to raise with the exact same love we started so many years ago. My puppy love grew into my true love…. ...and I thank God every day for His blessings. Puppy Love vs. True Love March 17, 2017
