Poem
Throb, throb, throb goes the beat The earth sings beneath our feet Age old tales it sings aloud Of man's journey through the earth and clouds The earth knows all, the songs and tales Of mankind, without fail. Mother earth knows it all And sings the sad tales of human's fall. The earth provides for man, you see Grains, fruit and honey from the bees. Saddened is she, at mankinds folly Dead men's bodies lying on the ground like dollies War is recorded within earths stones Tales of bloodshed and shattered bones Yet mother earth would rather tell Tales of joy and happiness from her well Such things tend not to be But oh, she wishes to be free From the blood splattered over her stones And aches instead for wondrous tones Glad songs and merry tunes, to lift a burdened heart Is how she'd rather play her part. Yet she does her bound duty To record all tales, of both gruesomeness and beauty She begs and pleads with man today To help her tales that have to stay Be of happiness and joy Yet she is treated, like a toy Can you hear her anguished cries, mankind? Can you feel the sorrowful beat, that hints at what she pines? Or have we lost all feeling, to her music? She aches and worries, and thinks we might be sick She wonders how we're doing within our souls, As we do deeds that take their toll To us, upon mother earth our blame is laid Yet upon both us and her, the price is paid
