Poem
Looking back my tired eyes become so clear And my 20/20 vision reappears Its funny how some feelings, never fade it seems And what became reality is now a dream I used to sit across from you and we'd pass notes With each pretty smile my heart knew, exactly what it hoped But the pain of losing someone, wouldn't allow this heart to see That what I really wanted sat right in front of me Chorus Since I was 17 You've been with me No matter where life goes I'll always hold these feelings I doubt you'll ever know the pain of losing whats not gained But for now it's just a dream and not the truth They say that time can heal almost any wound But what lingers insn't loss, it's wanting you Cause down through the years, the answer remains clear My heart still tells my mind just what to do Why does what is right sometimes feel so wrong I'd deny myself this truth but I'm not that strong In the back part of my mind, is where I know that this should stay But you're the first thought on my mind every single day Chorus Since I was 17 You've been with me No matter where life goes I'll hold these feelings I hope you never know the pain of losing whats not gained But for now it's just a dream and not the truth I wonder if you've ever woken at daylight From a dream where I had kissed and held you tight Or maybe we made love, on some beach out in the sand And for a little while I got to be your man 20 years have passed and I still feel the same Its hard believing a heart, can hold on to such pain I've been cheating on myself, in the arms of someone else And I probably only have myself to blame Chorus Since I was 17 You've been with me No matter where life goes I hope that you can see There's still a man who'll always dream of being your everything May you go on always knowing that it was you As I go on living life and loving you.....
