Poem
In this life of what's to be, we define life as what we see. The thoughts of love and life we see, are the driving force of what we believe. Of the twins alive in me, one is blind and one can see. With heavy hearts and of one mind, we sleep and wake with dreams intertwined. Our journey is strained by light and fire, with one twin asleep and full of desire. The other alive and seeing what's real, but knows what the first will forever not feel. Of the same mind.. forever they'll be, like birds of a feather.. or fruits of a tree. To understand faith, and what they believe, twins of the same mind you must not deceive. Like seasons of time ..as they pass us by, we take shelter in our minds.. as we wonder why. Spring brings to life.. all the things that should be, like rings on fingers and the leaves on trees. The flowers burst forth..with new beauty and life, the moment a preacher announces... husband and wife. As Spring runs its course and Summer prevails, the heat starts to rise and the winds take sail. The sky is ablaze with lightning and fury, creatures scamper... to scurry and bury. The mind shall define what is serene and true, when even the eyes try to deceive you. As one twin is warm and full of desire, the other sits by the heat of the fire. Both will wait by the tumbling sea, to us all that is... and what should never be. The summer gives way to the heat of scorched earth, as their eyes burn with bright sun. Twins of the same mind..forever entwined, live by what they have done. The oceans rage.. the tears still fall, as the storm batters the shore, As they sit and watch the sands of time..wash out and pray for more. Rain falls hard..eyes are marred, by the destruction the storm had left. Their minds sit by, to try and try, to make best of the awful mess. As winter sets and chills the air, I yearn for you to hold. The twins take flight, and ward off the night, and take shelter from the cold. As the leaves... fall so old, And tumble to the ground. The twins of my mind, touch tears in the eyes, of a soul that can't make a sound. As light grows dim, and time runs short, seasonal stories are told. Tears have fallen.. all turn to snow, as the air grows oh so cold. The twins of the mind.. have yet to define, what binds the soul so deep. It all begins, with the good deeds and sins., that we sow before we sleep. Day by day as time ticks away, we wonder what's inside. As we lay down and sleep, it's our dreams that will keep, us wondering what we hide. The twin that can feel, no longer can deal, with what the day has told. The eyes close tight, and burn out the light, as the night time dreams unfold. Close your eyes, Relax... Let the daylight go. Fall asleep, Breathe... The peaceful moonlight glows. Spread your wings, Fly... Let your spirit soar. The soul takes flight, Dream... Hold close the ones you adore. As with life..there comes a time, when things aren't what they seem. The light of day and dark of night, take hold and infect our dreams. The twin of the night.. though out of sight, can be deceived by what it sees. Through the pleasures and fright.. that the twin of the light, has seen and wants to believe. Our dreams are defined.. as things that remind, of moments we have to hone. With love we have felt, and the hands we've been dealt, which are forever set in stone. As we age, silent twin turns the page, and sees a clean new slate. The one that's alive, no longer strives, and leaves this life to fate. Dreams may come, dreams may go, like trickling waters of a stream. How we perceive..the things that we see, will not always be what they mean. The twins now sit and contemplate, what the next page will hold. The sands of time wash back ashore, as the new day starts to unfold. As I sit by the silent seaside, and watch the new sunrise. I breathe a sigh as the tides go by, and gently close my eyes. The sunlight warms my brightened face, and now I realize. That the twins who are... of the same mind, are the same in my own eyes. © Jason Palm 12/07/12
