THE DUCKLINGS' POINT OF VIEW The little child looked at us and smiled, This job in the sun would be much fun, We splashed sprightly, he sat quietly, Race had begun for the crumbs of a bun; With our webbed feet, we swam towards the treat, The little child looked at us and smiled, He was a dwarf in the big, wide wharf So gentle and mild, though we grew wild; We quacked and fought for the food we sought, From the quay, tossing the crumbs our way, The little child looked at us and smiled, "Don't fight, I pray", we gladly heard him say, "I have for each a piece, so be at ease", In we all piled to get near the child, The crumbs he cast, we ate very fast, The little child looked at us and smiled. ***************** THE BOY'S POINT OF VIEW I'm happy to feed these ducklings indeed, How hungry they look in this clear, cool nook, That one so small seems hungrier than all, I'm glad I took this bun from the cook; Let me sit down and enjoy their sound, I'm happy to feed these ducklings indeed, With my toes in the lake, I see the drakes Trying to lead the young ones who don't heed; Here they all have come, quacking for their crumbs Okay, here we go, one by one I throw, I'm happy to feed these ducklings indeed, And see them glow in the lake below; I sit here in peace, feeling the breeze, As they all proceed to fulfil their need, Feeding God's little pets, what joy I get! I'm happy to feed these ducklings indeed. 05/05/16
