Poem
This happened about fifteen years ago. My son and I were camping in the woods. He pitched the tent in a forest with a clearing. We took out supplies to build our campfire. He was about eleven at the time. We cooked two hobo dinners; then, hiked. By nightfall, we were both ready to rest. So we got in the tent and played a game. It was, National Park Monopoly. I don’t remember who the winner was. But I clearly recall what happened next We had just covered up to go to sleep. At that moment, we heard a strange whirring noise. I was afraid and he was curious. I had never heard sounds like that before. We looked at one another, both were wide-eyed. My, finger across my lips, I said “Shhhh.” He agreed to stay while I went to see. Hovering above our tent, there was a craft. A huge circle of red lights floating … mid-air. All I could think about was my children. What would happen if aliens took us? At that moment, I was whisked far away. Having ridden on their light beams upward, I knew that anything was possible. Next, I was beamed to a room; lights flashing. I had not seen my abductors yet, but ... I hoped they might have some compassion. The door swung open; bright lights everywhere. Then, I heard a voice that came from brightness. It looked like a tornado in clear light. In a shrill pitched tone, these words were spoken, “We will not harm you. So please do not fear. Fear interferes with our experiments. We were sent to explore intelligence. Yes, we feel your love for your family. Know that neither they nor you will be harmed. We selected you for many reasons. Strength, intelligence, creativity – Mostly we picked you, for your acceptance." They opened a porthole into darkness. Down on the circle of lights, a hatch opened. The spacecraft shot off at the speed of light. We were safe inside and the view was … Wow! I felt so blessed to be amid the stars. We visited all of the planets, too. After that unexpected awesomeness, They explained the point of my abduction. It was simple; reading my vital signs. Research that could save Earth from destroyers, An ongoing experiment about Humans’ reactions to light speed travel. Whew! What scary and beautiful knowledge. Then, at the speed of light, I was returned. My son was asleep in the tent snoring. I was assured that one instant had passed. I never told anyone about this. But I saw the unidentified craft Online in a NASA photograph … Smiles! 1/16/2017
