Poem
Parent-like, I looked at my past and the Resolutions once made. In doing so I asked myself: "What are Resolutions anyway"? Are they initial Collections of thoughts, plans, Plots, fine proposals, investments and more, That were all carefully thought out but gradually came to naught? Still thinking, I strolled off into nature and climbed the highest hill. There, from the top, through the green foliage below, I saw a stream slowly meandering towards a sign Which read, "2017, make all Resolutions here"! I scolded myself for not showing gratitude for past "Training" received, from the things God saw me through - Heartaches, disappointments, unmet schematic goals! Continuing to stare into the non-starry sky, Clouds continued their goody goody march, Towards all that's not currently known to me. I resolved to remember that the Lord never gives us more than we could bear, But makes a way to enable and empower. Raising my arms skyward, I implored my Savior and Forerunner to surely lead the way. There! Etched upon unshapedly off-white scattered Clouds, were Inspirations for this New Year. They slowly floated across for me to read their Soundless admonitions of: Laugh, Love, Life, Living, Lifestyle, Holistic Health, Hope, Healing. And wow, stars suddenly appeared above the clouds! I "pitched" with them higher and higher, into the vast unknown. Thus, I pledged within my heart to improvise changes, And Resolutionized three things that I ought to do in this new season! In these 12 months I'll ardently work upon them, As well as idealistically add meaningful input. First, I'll fix what were missing all these unfruitful years - And allow Christ Jesus into all that I undertake to do. After all, before I could open my mouth to speak, He already knows what I want and knows me by Name and Number. Secondly, I would not be presumptuous by making plans, and be boastful on my own strength. The third is not to Procrastinate and to finish off past Things I abandoned when under pressure or stress. All these I pondered on, as drifting clouds in a now starry sky, Revealed the Resolutions not covered in previous years. A special Resolution was also shown on those clouds, "America has Crossed Over into a New Season, And I did too with all others in this 2017! In the subconscious: New Year Revolutions Contest by Kim Rodrigues. Inspired to write this poem from a New Year's Eve Program, that lasted into the new year. Thought: Past seasons failure could be from not putting God first, procrastination, and using own strength
