Poem
I remember healing the wounds of the warrior heart, As he slayed evil dragons that lurked in the park. You remember so little, while i remember so much, Your very first look, your very first touch. Your very first sunset, the first time you slept, Your very first bath and the first time you crept. The first time you smiled and when you lost your first tooth, Your very first steps...i remember your youth. I remember each night of each hospital stay, Wiping your brow, as I'd worry and pray. For your life to go well, for God to hold you so tight, To never let go, and to never lose sight. Of the gift that He gave me, wrapped up, called my son, The one that slayed dragons, (you said it was fun). So rage on my child and scream if you must, God said He'd not lose you, and it's He that i trust. Take heart my sweet one, though your face shows your rage, I remember the softness of a much younger age. Rage on my child, hate me, if you must, God said He'd not lose you and it's He that I trust. Ride the sea as it rises, race the winds while they blow, Slay every dragon, so long as you know. That I’ll always be here to mend the elbows and knees, Of the warrior heart, as it aches and it bleeds. There's nothing to say, not one thing you can do, That will change my position, or my love held for you. Rage on my child and scream if you must, God said He'd not lose you and it's He that i trust. Rage on my sweet one, I’ll wait til your done, For you see I've no choice, you're my child, you're my son. You can hate me and curse me, try to push me away, It is here that I’ll stand, it is here that I’ll stay. Rage on my dear one and scream if you must, God said I'll not lose you and it's He that i trust...
