Poem
Mallory Hicksby lived all alone in the basement of the Bates Hotel Each night he could hear Norman and his mother arguing through the thin walls that had an off-color smell He lived all alone He was just a lonely person, someone who had no friends Every morning he hated to have to leave his room and go to work He hated to have to shower ... chop chop He wished he could stay in his room always, just listening to Norman and his mother conversing Mallory secretly wished Norman was his friend, someone he could confide in He wished he had a mother like Norman had, they always made up after they got mad But every time he passed Norman in the hall on his way to work, Norman never said hi Norman never said goodbye Norman always looked sad, like he was always about to cry Mallory always wanted to reach out and give Norman a hug He fantasized that Norman and he were best buds He'd tell Norman he wished he had a mother that loved him like that But every time Norman passed him in the hall, he never once looked back He lived all alone He was just a lonely person, someone who had no friends Mallory secretly wished Norman was his friend, someone he could confide in Together they would cross their hearts and hope to die, they would be best friends who would never ask questions why But for now, his secret must be kept hidden The truth must remain buried in the lye
