Poem

I was afraid
Gripped tightly weapons in my hands
And so distraught 
Oh wicked teacher preaching falsely
How many fire and brimstone speeches have you got?
The one you showed me took my will
To fit a noose around my neck
If I had known the Lord I'd know that isn't God


But I was caught
I could not draw another breath
In living death I had been locked
Oh dragon breathing mists of darkness
You are writhing in your death throes
You want that I should hate and fear my Maker
But you cannot hide His cross

I was ashamed
The tears were pooring out my eyes
I saw the evil I became
Oh heaven's Lion, wounded Lamb
You did not die to save good men
You promised me that I could always call your name!

A melting heart!
It made the Lord so happy
It had Him pouring out His own:

Oh running man, I didn't rest
Oh I have searched and I have wept
Now I rejoice because
A son of mine is home
