Poem
I have heard it is built with absolutes. I beg to differ, why not? There is past and there is future. Though the future may be indistinct, it is something tangible and inevitable. The past is what is in the history books, tales of all manner of creatures of course. And, lest we forget, living visionaries. Each tale revealing its own salient truths, for all men and women alike. So what is the truth? Can we not just rest in the present, the now? Believe that now, is the culmination of everything that happened in the past. No matter what history books we read. Believe that the future will be a culmination of everything past and now, more importantly now, for we have the great power to change ‘the now’. The reality we know will certainly be close to truth, if not the truth itself. We dote on our past accomplishments and strive toward future endeavors. But when we have a cathartic moment in ‘the now’; do we, my friend, appreciate it? When a moment arises for us to recognize our very essence and that of something greater, do we appreciate it? Will you taste it and find relief? I will. Yes, the glory in our current victory. I say, will you indulge these thoughts? Granted time is too short to ruminate and this is by no means ‘wise’, but will you retain suspended disbelief and indulge what I impart? My truth is an abstract and a construct of my own mind, it will not be changed nor will I be pressured by forces around me. I see the future as surely as I have experienced the past, shaping my perspective and giving me the ability to be bold. Our ‘truths’ are merely what we as individuals see them to be. Some may say our truth is an ‘opinion’ but I wager to say no, it can be harsh and not always congruent with what we feel. My truth is more. I see it in the blue of a clear summer’s day and I taste in the salty water of the ocean. No question, I experience it as I walk over drops of dew at dawn on freshly cut grass. You too will hear yours in the chirping of crickets at the dead of night, as if they sing out in reverence to what is your truth. Believe it as surely as you can touch the soil beneath your feet and know you are on solid ground. Close your eyes now, take that all away, open up to every physical sense that you have and accept your truth. For that indeed is wisdom. You are insightful and aware to the nth degree. Do not be overcome by doubt which abounds in depths of your subconscious and what we are told to be facts. You and I should not be swayed so easily.
