Poem

Maria was a postulant not 100% sure
she wanted to become a nun,
almost always bumping into someone
at the convent since she was always on the run,
so she was sent to the Von Trapp family to be
the nanny to seven very eager energetic kids,
while Captain Von Trapp would blow
his whistle if they stepped out of line,
heaven forbid,
treating them like they were nothing
more than kid soldiers,
while Maria was there to nourish and help
them flourish and let them cry on her shoulder,
the Captain Von Trapp a Navy Officer and
a widower very set in his ways,
engaged to Baroness Schraeder who
almost always had the last say,
till one night at a party at the Von Trapp's estate,
Maria had taught the seven children
to sing and perform which turned out great,
with Captain Von Trapp asking Maria to dance,
you could tell by the look in their eyes that
they were both entranced,
you could see and feel the electricity between
them during the Landler folk dance scene,
and when having first met there was an attraction
that they both were in too much denial to see,
but after that dance they both knew right
then and there that they were truly meant to be,
finally marrying and then the whole fugitive family
escaping to Switzerland to get away from the
notorious nazis.
