Poem
In a dark and barren wasteland, in a black hole of time, a lonely man that wanders - sorrow eating up his mind. On his shoulder, troubles weigh, crushing down his soul; a backpack filled with shattered dreams - his anchor to this hole. He drifts along his dried-up thoughts, once luscious sapphire streams, inducing how he used to feel and how they used to gleam. His tattered clothes and sullied hair caress the stale wind. The sadness in his laden eyes will tell of how he’s sinned. The crimson sky and dusty plain swallow the land around. Beset by ghosts, he roams alone, and mocked by absent sound. His feet are blistered from the days, the gifts of ancient fray. This endless road will lead him there, to where his spirit lay. Memories line the windswept path and tease him as they leer, remind him of his wasted life and how it brought him here. Dangling from his sickly gaze, the image of his fate that purged the love from deep within, supplanted it with hate. The shallow wind plays sordid tunes and chills his waken ears; a requiem of broken dreams, a shadow drowned in tears. A sleeping voice that softly bathes, it sings a subtle tease like cancer charging up his spine, it hurls him to his knees. He gazes high and weeps aloud - the twilight of his years. A sullen mist discards all time - the shackles of his fears. Billowed in that sharp abyss, the answers that he sought; the desert in his laden mind is drunk on lonely thoughts. As phantoms boldly circle in, marooned in silent crime, his worn-out eyes come crashing down to drown in waves of time. A pinprick through his agony dawns cataclysmic flares and wrath consumes his inner haze - the desert simply stares. A temper in the sulphur sky - the storm before the calm. Chaos falls on acid tears - a maelstrom burns the sun. Bedlam’s choir lines the path, carnage smiles down, and bleeds a violent squall as the heavens softly drown. A tender eye descends above to pierce the dense morass. The twisted peace betrays the air to splay the limpid mass. The writhing storm begins to choke, it grumbles and it shakes, and beats a lonely melody until the tempest breaks. The crumbling sky on darkness falls the shadow of decay. Reflections in his raindrop eyes with lucid dreams to slay. Along the road he’ll wander with the echoes of his scars until he sleeps forevermore on clouds beyond the stars. 29-May-2015
