I think I watch far too much cable TV
   the noise a constant dulling drain on the intelligence once in me.
Summer time is worst the most demeaning season of them all
   reruns, politicians, false realities lies of the legends of the fall
The  history channel line up is shined and buffed
   UFOs, Ancient Aliens with Ozzy and Jack's World Detour in the rough.
Meanwhile, Ice Road Truckers, Mountain Men, The Boonies fight the cold
   to circumvent lesser tales of Wicked Tuna caught, weighed and sold
The BBC joins in the grand elaborate path capriciously
   with Top Gear, Orphan Black on Ripper Street engorged viciously.
And the SY Fy horrors flowing thick with violence, hate and blood
  Z Nation, twelve Monkeys, Dark Matter and Sharknado studs. 
Even basic broadcasting TV
  revive games through their prodigy
The Bachelor and Bachelorette can Dance with the Stars on parade 
  while Great Races and Survivors are just Naked and Afraid
but most surprising and fearful in the shows displayed
  are the news and its manipulated ways.
Part of the story might lie somewhere in the video and words
  but telling the truth must be too absurd
we never get to hear or see or know it all
  so we just accept it as it is, the tales so large and tall,
bathed in blood, guts and gore with even more to come
  no question why we are all desensitized to life as humdrum.
What will history think and finally record
  of this legacy we've made and stored?
