When God Speaks...

When God speaks... do you listen?
or, do you say
How can you speak when you don't exist?
I don't understand you...
so that must mean
that you don't exist...right?

My denial of your existence now
obligates you, to not exist, 
don't you understand?

Does that sound reasonable?

Do you say, how can you allow 
so much suffering,
for so long and not do anything?
I thought you were the Almighty, 
why haven't you done something?
I don't understand you
so that means you don't exist!!

Do you understand how gravity works?
Do you understand what electricity is?
Do you understand the human genome?
Do you understand the universe?
And yet they all exist!

Why not God, then?

When God speaks... do you listen?

Or, do you plug your ears and say nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
I can't hear you, like when we were kids?

When God speaks... do you say...
Who are you to tell me how to live
I don't like all of your rules, 
it's too restrictive. I need my freedom, 
I decide for myself what is right and wrong!!
I don't need 
some book written thousands of years ago 
to tell me what's right or wrong!!
I decide!! Nobody owns me!!

Really?

You are owned by your own desires...
you are already a slave of your own body...
don't believe me, 
stop eating...for a while and see
is it too restrictive, too demanding, 
this eating every 3 hours, so don't do it!
After all nobody owns you right?

What about gravity? 
Do you  obey the law of gravity
or is that too restrictive for you?

What about sleep? Do you obey it's law?
or is that too restrictive also.

Some laws are for our own good, 
for our protection.

If you are swimming 
in shark infested waters 
do you complain about the shark cage 
being too restrictive?
do you really want your freedom?

When God speaks... do you say...
where were you when I was a child
abused and abandoned? 
Why didn't you listen to my prayers 
when I needed you the most?
Why did you kill my little brother 
in the car accident all those years ago?

Now I've made a life for myself,
I have a good job, nice house, nice car,
live in a good neighbourhood, 
expensive vacations, I give to charity

I made myself what I am today!!
You weren't there for me when I needed you, 
now I don't need you!
Sorry it's too late! I'm ok

So when God speaks...do you listen?
Do you want to understand him?
Or rather, is he to you, like an absentee father
you've got used to being without?

How do you know when God is speaking?
What he wants from us?
It's in the Bible, after all, 
there's a reason 
why it's called God's word!
