Poem
She is the one to have had no choices at all Maybe to marry was her will, hers solely Or maybe it was that of her family In all, she did choose to bear it all For the sake of pleasing the whole society Whether she worked or not before marriage is not to be taken into account For now, being the wife of that hotshot man, she is to stay at home And of the good qualities of her husband, she should flaunt Yes, indeed, her in laws' house now does be her kingdom She is to make sure she never breaks their rising stardom Enslaved to a stranger She is to have to a strong shoulder She is to forget her emotions She is to dismiss her wants She is to care only for how to make him prosper Should something positive happen, she is to praise her husband Should something negative happen, she is to bear this burden She is to fast and pray even To ward off the evil hovering over them Why, it would even be her, the one who brought them to this state, sunken She is to please the whole society As if she were a divine deity She should be ready for everything From being accused of being made of faults To being cheated upon She would have to bear it all More, she would have to bear a son Or two, as to get some power from the rest of the world Pray, a childless woman does be a cursed one Same as does be one having born a daughter! Closed should she keep her mouth, when she will be beaten Sometimes for no reason Sometimes because her husband covets another And her presence does be a hamper Why, he never wanted to marry her, the rules of society bid him to! A housewife does be snatched of rights A housewife does suffer in silence Love making does be for her, merely rape's grace Emotional strength, she gets it from her own faith Why, surely, she would accept it, for such does be her fate Pray, times have changed, but then Housewives on their own feet do not stand Housewives do just submit to it all For life had not showed them its fine side Yes, life did show them that to everything, they should abide Why, I am sure, in the long run, with the help of education With the help of saviors, of angels Housewives shall be saved from their own chosen hells Pray, a man's comfort does be appealing But it is also men's nature to have a whim so fluctuating Pray, if desperate are housewives because of their position I am sure such shall not remain so The young shall learn from the elders' history Indeed, and they shall write a new version of their story Such does be my rhyme; my prayer!
