The Power of the Written Word.. Dedicated to my Poetic New Friends.. My poetry used to be only for my eyes Than one day online got a unexpected surprise! Found this, site filled with those Who didnt judge or criticize Thought give it a chance you've got nothing to lose Could be beneficial hearing others point of views Took a deep breath & said why not? Here it goes.. So with a little hesitation I posted my first prose Was delighted when positive comments came flooding in! New friendships blossomed My heart was elated I felt it from within Glad I took the chance no need for regret Formed a close bond with people I have never met Truly a life changing experience One that I won't forget Still growing can't wait To see what comes next We are connected through shared experiences & the ink of a pen Artistic vibes the bond what more could you want in a friend? They built me up made me believe my work was good I took their advice. Slowly believed that I could That I could express my feelings hopes and fear They would not tear me down Instead stand up and cheer! Never harsh words that is the key Slowly over time the inner poet began To come out in ME! This positive reaction I did not foresee Over time self doubt lifted My spirit free! I wrote of my pain, Loss, & intimate personal stories The more I revealed the more I found glory! Glory and praise as well as recognition This site has helped bring my dreams to fruition my words on the screen for all to see has brought out a deep sense of satisfaction wirhin ME For the first time in a while I was excited creatively Slowly in time I began to believe In ME Poetry has helped with my recent loss more than I could have believed Each step of the way more confidence I achieved Support from you all has brought me a sense of peace In YOUR words I have found relief Such a beautiful gift to receive! Support from these lovely strangers has helped me to heal To speak with others who know how you feel In these friendships together we can reveal Our feelings our joys and our pain Knowing your not alone That others feel the same A part if myself I thought was gone I was able to reclaim Don't have to worry about sounding silly or absurd Together here we have all connected through the power of the written word You all have brought some of my happiness back To my fellow poets There's no gift on Earth thats Better than that!
