Poem
FROM OLD TO NEW Come climb on me, my little ant, come walk the planks of this ship called a body, tell all the many-legged creatures, the creepers and night-crawlers, the weavers and diggers, tell them all that I am here, a willing partner and friend. I am building a monument, a testament to freedom and silence no more. Come climb on me so that she will see how respectful I am for life and pursuits; let mosses grow around my feet, a pillow for my forest friends, a comforting place to fall; to dream and have dreams fulfilled. Let my feet become roots that encompass the world in a delightful embrace, let them grow strong and deep; let the Old Earth wrap me in fertile soil and seed me with grasses, broad and sweet, and the grass is my hair. Come join me in this New Earth planted with new trees and they will dominate this Sacred Place while the winds that thrust through these valleys will sing a name only angels can hear. Our place will be known as a breeding ground of pure love where the silver moon will serenade us. Alas, this Utopia has but one fatal flaw, my New Earth is built for two.
