Poem
A Teary Lake All happy faces chirping in the retreat, but within these walls I hear a painful wail But whose heart I hear silently crying? I put my ears to the walls of the cabin Were the sobs and sighs heard only by me? Was I imagining? Down I went To the cellar where the wails grew louder; was shocked to see ~ ~~ Pale Jane dripping wet, who for long I thought was dead A holiday in this resort was the last that I heard of her ~~ ~~~ 'Please give me food, John! I've hungered for long ~ ~~ ~~ But none to see me or hear my cries; My call you heard, I knew you'd come ~~ ~~~ ~~ Insincere was I and thus I struggled And suffocated in my last breath The lake waters are filled with my tears ~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~ ~~ I waited for you to give me eternal salvation One morsel please from your loving kindly hands ~~ And my soul to finally rest upon this blessed night' ~~~~ Perusing over her words, I silently climbed up to the kitchen floor Filled a plate for her supper with a glass of red wine to soak in her guilt ~~ Peace lit her face with my offerings, she ate hungrily till the very last bite I watched her glide out of the cellar door towards the lake and vanish into its waters April 29, 2016 For Skat A Being Invisible -2 Picture 3- She was drowning, but nobody saw her struggle In isolated lake retreats there is always the danger of drowning. Chances of help are also rare. It is better to holiday in crowded places as help is always accessible. Unnatural deaths need salvation, sometimes through food - an Indian thought, akin to Halloween
