Poem

I hear a sound 
Behind me, soft and surreal,
Almost as if it had traveled
To me through the corridors 
Of time.
  
  I turn to look, 
And that's when I see
Gorgeous hazel eyes set in a 
Delicate face, seeming both arcane 
And wise.
 
  Wreathed in moonlight, she
Is more dazzling than the 
Morning sun, and when she speaks,
Her voice is murmurous as 
The riversong.

  She looks into my 
Eyes, and seems to almost
Laugh at what she sees there,
As if she had heard 
My thoughts.

  As she begins to 
Sing in a tongue unknown
To man, her voice soft and 
Sonorous, she twirls beneath the 
Diamond stars.

  When her song is 
Done, she takes a single
Rose from her long hair, and 
Gives it to me, a 
Precious gift.

  In all this time,
I have said nothing, stunned
At the apparition before my eyes.
With one last look, she 
Is gone.

  I stare at the 
Grass she had stood upon,
Uncrushed by her feet, the rose
I carry the only evidence
Left behind.

  My gaze drifts up 
To the moon and stars,
The only witnesses that she 
Had been more than just
A vision.
