Back to the rink again today
to face my fear once more,
hoping for a better day
I feel nervous to the core.

Take my time putting on my skates
lacing them up nice and slow,
tightening them around my ankles,
peeking at the ice as I go.

The rink seems extremely cold
it just might be my nerves,
trying to face my fear again
looking down at the slippery curves.

I step on out to the ice
looking down at my feet,
hoping I won't fall again today
railing and my hand once again meet.

No music to listen to
'round and 'round in circles I go,
it'd keep my mind off my fear
watching people skate to and fro.

It makes me extremely nervous
when skaters fly past me,
wishing I was much better
I'd be filled with glee.

I have to face my fear
whether I like it or not,
I want to be a good skater again
have to take every chance I've got.

I would love to be able to skate like I used to. I guess I will just have to keep trying.
